Ellerslie International Flower Show Media Release, 23 Feb 2010.
Plants from an award-winning 2009 Ellerslie International Flower Show have helped with the revegetation of Christchurch’s Lake Albert in Hagley Park and train four horticultural students in amenity planting.Diane Boyd, Julian Brown, David Rate Smith and Shizuka Cornelius have been replanting Lake Albert with plants grown for last year’s Christchurch Botanic Gardens’ Swamp Modern Ellerslie exhibition garden which won a Silver Distinction medal.

The demand for Clean Heat financial assistance ahead of new air rules commencing on April 1 means waiting lists for assessments are growing. Christchurch residents who are not already prepared are advised to consider what alternatives they will use to stay warm this winter. The ban on the use of open fires and solid fuel burners 15 years or older will be in effect from April until September.

Canterbury Mayoral Forum Media Release, 24 Feb 2010.
The Mayoral Forum, at its meeting yesterday, gave a green light for the introduction of zone and regional water management committees proposed by the Canterbury Water Management Strategy. Since recommending formation of the committees in its November strategy document, the Strategy Steering Group has since worked up the operational detail.
