On Saturday 20 March 2010 Le Race, the annual challenging and scenic cycle race leaves from Cathedral Square in Christchurch to Akaroa. Club cyclists have been competing in Christchurch to Akaroa races since the 1930s but in recent years the race has been developed into a special event for individuals and teams of cyclists from all backgrounds to attempt.

NZ International Jazz & Blues Festival, 08 Mar 2010.
British chart-topper Newton Faulkner will open his New Zealand tour with a performance at Christchurch’s NZ International Jazz & Blues Festival on Saturday, April 10.In his relatively young career, Faulkner has shared a stage with James Morrison, Paolo Nutini, The Fray, Chris Martin, John Butler Trio and John Mayer, but now he is going it alone.

Winners have been announced for the Ellerslie International Flower Show's major awards and competitions. The Christchurch Botanic Gardens has won the Judges Supreme Award at this year’s Show with a garden of fungi, mould and lichen.
An Englishman’s Retreat by multi award-winning designer Chris Beardshaw won the people’s choice for favourite exhibit.

The annual Heathcote River Day, with its home-made rafts and all sorts of non-motorised watercraft racing to the finish, will be held on Sunday 21 March.This year more prizes are being offered as the popular community event has attracted more sponsors, namely Clip'n'Climb and Adrenaline Forest.
